 গৃহ হইতে বিতাড়িত হইয়াও ষোলো বৎসরের বালক রামমোহন ভীত হইলেন না। তিনি পায়ে হাঁটিয়াই ভ্রমণ করিতে করিতে তিব্বতে উপস্থিত হন। সেখানেও তিনি ধর্ম ও কুসংস্কারের বিরুদ্ধে আন্দোলন আরম্ভ করিয়াছিলেন। তাঁহার বক্তৃতার ফলে অনেক লোক তাঁহার শত্রু হইয়া দাঁড়াইল। এমনকি তাঁহাকে হত্যা করতেও চেষ্টা করিয়েছিলেন ।কিন্তু কতিপয় দয়ার্দ্র রমণীর চেষ্টায় তাহাদের সে চেষ্টা ব্যর্থ হইল। তাঁহার বিপদের কথা শুনিয়া তাঁহার পিতামাতা তাঁহাকে গৃহে ফিরাইয়া আনিলেন। তখন তাঁহার বয়স কুড়ি বৎসর।  গৃহে ফিরিয়া তিনি ইংরেজি, গ্রিক, ল্যাটিন, ফরাসি ও উর্দু শিখিতে লাগিলেন।
