 নোবেল পুরস্কার লাভের পর রবীন্দ্রনাথের নাম সমস্ত পৃথিবীতে ছড়াইয়া পড়িয়াছিল। তাঁহার রচনা পড়িবার জন্য সর্বদেশের লোক উদ্‌গ্রীব হইয়া উঠিল। নানা ভাষায় তাঁহার গ্রন্থ অনুদিত হইতে লাগিল। দেশের প্রতি রবীন্দ্রনাথের প্রেম সুগভীর হইলেও বিদেশকে তিনি কখনও ঘৃণা করেন নাই। রবীন্দ্রনাথ তাঁহার এই প্রাচ্য ও প্রতীচ্যের মিলনের বাণী লইয়া বহুদেশ ভ্রমণ করিয়াছিলেন। যেখানেই তিনি গিয়াছেন, সেখানেই লোকে তাঁহাকে সাদর অভ্যর্থনা করিয়াছে এবং সাগ্রহে তাঁহার বাণী শ্রবণ করিয়াছে।
