 রামকৃষ্ণের সহধর্মিণী সারদাদেবী আদর্শ নারী ছিলেন। তাহার ন্যায় মধুরস্বভাবা। নারী খুব কমই দেখা যায়ী। সংসারের ভোগবিলাসের প্রতি তাঁহার বিন্দুমাত্র আসক্তি ছিল নাও। তাঁহার মতো স্ত্রী পাইয়াছিলেন বলিয়া রামকৃষ্ণ এত বড়ো সাধক হইতে পারিয়াছিলেন। হিন্দু, মুসলমান, ধনী, দরিদ্র সকলকেই তিনি সন্তানের মতো ভালবাসিতেন। একবার এক গরিব মুসলমানকে নিজের হাতে খাওয়াইয়া তাহার খাবার পাত্র নিজেই পরিষ্কার করিয়াছিলেন । এজন্য বাড়ির লোকেরা তাঁহাকে কত তিরস্কার করিয়াছিলেন। তিনি শুধু উত্তর দিয়াছিলেন " নিজের ছেলেকে নিজে না খাওয়াইলে কী তৃপ্তি পাওয়া যায়?
