 লেখাপড়া না শিখিলে কেহ কখনও বড়ো হইতে পারে না। জগতে যে সমস্ত ব্যক্তি জ্ঞানী ও গুণী বলিয়া খ্যাতি লাভ করিয়াছেন। তাঁহারা সকলেই লেখাপড়া করিয়াছেন; কেহই মূর্খ ছিলেন না। লেখাপড়া মানুষের চক্ষুস্বরূপ। চক্ষুর সাহায্যে আমরা সকল জিনিস দেখিয়া ও চিনিয়া থাকি; লেখাপড়ার সাহায্যেও মানুষ তেমনই সকল জিনিস শিখিয়া থাকে। অন্ধের নিকট যেরূপ সমস্তই অন্ধকার, মূর্খের নিকটও সেইরূপ। সে চক্ষু থাকিলেও অন্ধ; কারণ সে কোনো জিনিসই প্রকৃতভাবে বোঝে না বা জানে না।
